New York City Services

New York City Services (NYCCS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the underserved of NYC, including low-income men women, teens and elderly who are struggling to advance their careers and education. They provide services that support unlimited opportunities for individual growth and financial stability. Their clients come from diverse ethnic backgrounds such as Russian, Uzbek, Hispanic, African-American, Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian and North African. This organization also works with other non-profits thru referrals such as Good Will, Center for Family Life, the Arab American Association and Workforce 1.

NYCCS contracted with Art of Your Mind to provide a unique support program for a community event hosted on the 4th of July. Our contracted goal was to provide materials and products that would endeavor to highlight the nature of our Countries Independence Day celebration while also providing a sense of “community” and “belonging” to the attendees that they may not normally be afforded due to their socio-economic backgrounds.

Due to the diverse backgrounds of the attendees to this event, it was incumbent upon us to remain cognizant of the applicable ethnic nuances regarding their acceptance of certain products and patriotic definitions. We wanted to ensure that they all felt comfortable and even enthusiastic about participating in this wonderful event.

Our design team recommended that we design and manufacture patriotic shirts that would allow all of the attendees to be comfortable in a large group of people. We wanted to ensure that no attendees were self-conscious about their appearance. We also were tasked with providing some type of small representation of their attendance at the event so as to help foster a sense of community in their neighborhoods that hopefully would continue past the date of the event itself.

Project Execution

Art of Your Mind designed and printed Tee Shirts for the 4th of July event that would identify the attendees to a free barbecue celebration in their local community. We created a vibrant and thoughtful Banner for the event that was welcoming to all of the attendees. Our Staff designed and created unique printed table cloths for their showcase tables that provided a finished look to the event. Finally, we designed and printed special event door decals for the project that added to a sense of community for the event.

Outcome Analysis

The 4th of July event was a huge success. The attendees felt comfortable and part of a community and indeed they embraced the entire notion of what the Independence Day celebration actually signified. The feedback we received not just from the client but the attendees as well was nothing short of inspirational. Our client (NYCCS) was ecstatic at the level of detail and commitment we brought to this project noting, “… is the details that make a project standout as extraordinary!”
